Donate Your Old Car
Be Child Cancer Aware has teamed up with Giveacar a social enterprise that allows you to donate your old car just as you might donate possessions to a charity shop. Giveacar collect scrap vehicles nationwide and will tow away the unwanted car and make a generous donation in the process. Giveacar are the UK’s largest scrap car and vehicle donation service. The service organises the free collection and recycling of any car or vehicle, anywhere in the UK. BCCA is able to benefit either from the scrap metal value of the car, or if it is more valuable, the sale price at auction. You can donate a car to BCCA at our page on the Giveacar website.
So How Does It Work
Giveacar works in conjunction with the largest nationwide car recycling network to coordinate the donation of cars. Any car that is donated will either be sold in a salvage auction for its salvage value, or disposed of at an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF). Their salvage partner guarantees a return for every car they give them – regardless of condition!
COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Many cars are put into an auction on Bluecycle. This means that they are not necessarily scrapped. Where possible, the cars will be salvaged, repaired, and put back on the roads. It is crucial to keep cars on the road for as long as possible because of the environmental cost of producing a new car.
However, cars donated of a certain age or condition will be scrapped because it is unfeasible to put them back on the roads. In these cases, Giveacar ensure that the cars are disposed of to the highest environmental standards. Giveacar works in conjunction with Authorised Treatment Facilities to ensure that all cars donated are recycled and depolluted in the correct way. At present, roughly 75% to 80% of vehicles in terms of weight is being recycled.
