Saturday 1st May, 2010 saw the official launch of The Liberty Rose Trust, Registered Charity NO 1129525 at Bretby Conference Centre in Burton on Trent. The Liberty Rose Trust seeks to
a) improve the experience of all families whose lives have been affected by childhood brain tumours
b) to accompany families though their difficult journey
c) to take affirmative action to resolve, or improve, any difficulties that they encounter along the way.
Through campaigning and community building, the charity aims to inform and educate the services and organisations that are involved with childhood brain tumours and aim to create a positive and sustainable difference for the benefit of all families.
Families from up and down the country gathered for the official launch where Bravery Awards were given to 15 children and teenagers. There were awards for children battling brain tumours and additional awards for children with other cancers. The awards were presented by none other than Darth Vadar and a group of Storm-Troopers!
The evening was both moving and emotional but above all, it was highly motivational. Meeting these children, seeing their bravery and their determination to overcome their illness makes Be Child Cancer Aware all the more determined to fight to raise awareness of Cancer in Children and Teenagers.
There were a number of very special videos which were shown on the night including a video in memory of all the children who didn’t beat their illness which received a standing ovation.
The evening was also attended by Be Child Cancer Aware other family led charities including
